Get ready for the NSW Emergency Backstop Mechanism and CER Installer Portal launch

This information is shared for SAA accredited professionals in NSW on behalf of the NSW Government and distribution networks for the Emergency Backstop Mechanism and CER Installer Portal project.

Important changes start in November 2026

From November 2026, important changes start for the way rooftop solar and home batteries are installed and registered in NSW.

You're invited to join a special industry webinar to learn about the launch of the NSW Consumer Energy Resources (CER) Installer Portal and the phased introduction of the NSW Emergency Backstop Mechanism requirements.

🗓️ Wednesday, 14 October 2026
⏰ 4.30pm – 5.15pm
🔗 Register here

You’ll hear directly from representatives from the NSW Government, Ausgrid, Endeavour Energy and Essential Energy about the latest project and rollout updates, what solar businesses need to do to prepare, and the support available.

What you will learn

  • What changes from November 2026

  • How and when to use the NSW CER Installer Portal

  • How the Emergency Backstop Mechanism applies to installations

  • Which customers can access flexible export limits

  • Which postcodes are included in the initial rollout

  • What steps you should take before launch

  • How to access training, support and resources

Unable to join on the day?

For those not able to join on the day, the webinar will be recorded and made available on the NSW Government’s CER Installer Portal webpage alongside answers to questions raised at the webinar.
